LG LW1517IVSM Air Conditioner.
The LG brand has a longstanding reputation for high-quality AC units.
Recently they introduced their new line of smart window air conditioners — they connect via WiFi and can be controlled w/ the LG mobile app.
Smart window AC units are offered in four sizes:
LW1019IVSM: 10,000 BTU (350 – 500 sq. ft.)
LW1517IVSM: 14,000 BTU (500 – 800 sq. ft.)
LW1817IVSM: 18,000 BTU (800 – 1,000 sq. ft.)
LW2217IVSM: 22,000 BTU (1,000 – 1,300 sq. ft.)
Each includes a dual inverter compressor which makes them much quieter than normal window ac units.
My review will focus on the LG LW1517IVSM, with 14,000 BTU of power.
Using revolutionary dual inverter technology, LG window air conditioners cool faster and are super energy efficient — even in peak summer months, expect to save 25-40% on your electric bill!
LG Model: LW1517IVSM
Cooling Power: 14,000 BTU
Room Size: up to 800 sq. ft.
In terms of energy consumption, each unit operates 25% more efficiently than minimum Energy Star requirements.
As a WiFi “smart” unit, the LG LW1517IVSM air conditioner can be controlled w/ your smartphone — adjust your settings from anywhere!
LG Dual Inverter Air Conditioner:
Dual inverter compressor is a new technology.
It’s built with twin rotors that work simultaneously to deliver faster cooling power + requires lower energy.
The dual inverter accounts for internal air-flow and is designed to decrease noise and vibrations — buyers are surprised how quietly it operates, especially compared to their previous model.
Certainly one of the best ultra quiet window air conditioner units.
Noise Level (dB): < 44 decibels
Normal $150-250 window air conditioners operate between 50 and 62 decibels so you’ll certainly notice a difference w/ LG Dual Inverter AC units.
Unlike other AC units that cycle on and off abruptly, this LG model continually adjusts compressor speed to create a sustainable, cool environment.
Buyers also confirm that it’s easy to install (and doesn’t require special tools or skills).
Installation: 10-15 minutes
For mobile app control, the LG SmartThinkQ app is available for iOS or Android.
You can even sync it with Alexa or Google Home for voice-activated commands.
LG Dual Inverter Window AC:
- Adjust room temperature
- Increase/decrease speed
- Set a timer
- Activate sleep mode
- (great for bedrooms!)
- Change fan speed

LG Dual Inverter Window AC:
Built with Dual Inverter technology and WiFi functionality, the LG LW1517IVSM is a high-end unit.
It’s larger than most bedroom units at 14,000 BTU, but also offers quieter operation — it’s decibel range is much lower than traditional window AC units of its size.
Personally I think it’s the best window air conditioner for light sleepers.
Buyers also say it’s very fast at cooling large spaces.
It keeps a steady, consistent temperature without cycling on and off.
