Whynter ARC-148MS Portable Air Conditioner Filters

Whynter Portable Air Conditioner Review.

Whynter produces some of the best portable ac units, many of which become top sellers.

They produce other heating and air conditioning units, but their portable acs is what they’re known for — they’re easy to install and less carrying (they’re on wheels!)

In my review I’ll cover the following units.

  • Whynter ARC-148MS (without heat pump)
  • Whynter ARC-148MHP (with heat pump)

Both have the same cooling ability, but the ARC-148MHP includes a heat pump for winter.

With summer approaching, I’ll focus my review on the Whynter ARC-148MS.

Whynter Portable Air Conditioner – Review:

The Whynter 14,000 BTU AC is extremely quiet when running.

Even on max power, it stays below 55 dBs — Comparable air conditioners are higher than 55 dBs, on their lowest setting.

Temp Range: 62°F ~ 88°F

Room Size: 400 ~ 500 sq. ft.

Many buyers love using as their bedroom air conditioner.  It’s cheaper than a mini split system and less noise than a window unit.

Perfect for large areas, it’s fast at cooling and great for maintaining a consistent room temperature.

It also includes a remote control with full functionality —  even set your desired temp (instead of speed).

What’s included:

With purchase of Whynter ARC-148M.

  • Whynter Portable AC (73 pounds)
  • 59″ exhaust hose
  • Full installation kit
  • 3M filters
    • Washable pre-filtersHose and
  • Remote Control

Whynter ARC-148MS Review:

It’s a newer model produced by Whynter, but it’s already received positive buyer reviews.

Even though it isn’t cheap, I think you’re getting tremendous value — a good dehumidifier costs $200-300.

For rooms/areas that require high output (tall ceilings or open home layouts), it’s a solid choice. Being a 14,000 BTU unit makes it comparable to a mini split ac system.

Overall, the Whynter ARC-148MS looks like a great option despite its higher price tag.
