✅ Top #1 Pick: Shark Rotator TruePet
* colors may differ by country
Shark Rotator TruePet Upright Corded Bagless vacuum is one of the most affordable vacuums on my list.
Comes w/ 2 surface settings for carpet and hard floors — Authentic wood floors sometimes require a more gentle vacuum, but not an issue with the Shark Rotator.
Strong power for carpets + smooth, gentle glide for delicate flooring (i.e. oak or mahogany)
There are plenty of reasons this vacuum gets strong buyer reviews.
1. Detachable canister transforms into a handheld vacuum
2. Specialized canister seal which keeps 99.9% of particles trapped inside.
3. I’m a big fan of bagless vacuums. You won’t have to run to the store when you’re out of bags. When it gets full, empty the canister and continue on.
Personally, I like that it includes tools specifically for pet hair: motorized brush & high-suction nozzle
Large Dust cup w/ capacity of 1.5 dry quarts (of debris).
It also features LED lights giving you a better view of dirt. And using Shark’s patented Swivel Steering tech makes it super easy to maneuver in tight spots:
under tables, between chairs, behind the Christmas tree, etc.
- Brand: Shark
- Type: Bagless vacuum
- Weight: 15.4 pounds
- Cord Reach: 30 feet
- Bin capacity: 1.5 quarts
- Transforms into hand vacuum
- Great for stairs or furniture
- Swivel Steering
- Anti-Allergen seal
- traps 99.9% of particles inside
- TruePet Motorized Brush
- 15.4 pounds is a little heavier than others
The Shark Rotator Professional Upright 30 ft. Corded Bagless vacuum comes in 3 different colors.
It’s also reasonably priced and will appeal to those who want a 2-in-1 vacuum: upright and handheld vacuum (w/ lift-away pod).
Bagless vacuum which means less inconvenience is bagless, which means less waste — Shark Rotator vacuum is a little heavier at 15.5 pounds, but it runs quietly. It also comes w/ an extended wand for cleaning things like ceilings, drapes and blinds.
Filter system is designed to trap 99.9% of allergens in the vacuum.
Oh, another bonus? Special trap catches larger items which might accidentally get vacuumed.
If cost is your biggest consideration, you can’t beat the price of the Oreck Commercial XL Upright vacuum.
Even though it’s a “commercial” vacuum, buyer reviews confirm that it’s one of the best home vacuums available online.
Affordable price + strong buyer reviews, it’s probably the most powerful vacuum on my list. Double helix brushes spin at 6,500 RPM giving it enough momentum to quickly suck-in deep carpet debris, lift out clumps of pet hair & pull-in particles in tiny crevices (i.e. cookie crumbs between wood floor planks).
Built-in bumper keeps this vacuum from scuffing walls and furniture as you clean, which is a nice feature — works well on carpet and hardwood floors.
Weighing only 8.2 pounds, it’s very lightweight — simple for mostly anyone to use. (It’s recognized by the Arthritis Foundation as being an easy-to-use model)
Great for commercial or residential use, the Oreck XL is an excellent choice!
This is one of the most affordable vacuums on this list.
I like the price of the Hoover WindTunnel 3 High Performance Pet Bagless vacuum. In spite of the savings it still does a good job covering the basics.
I’m a big fan of bagless vacuums and this one comes with a longer 40 ft. cord — most corded vacuums reach 25-30 ft. If you have an open-home layout, this is probably the best upright vacuum to choose from.
The Quick-Pass brush roll provides 2x quicker cleaning (since you won’t need to go over the same area multiple times). It also has 4 attachments that let you clean ceilings, walls and furniture and target pet hair.
Comes w/ 7 height options to choose from when you’re operating the Hoover WindTunnel 3.
Hoover WindTunnel is sold in 2 colors.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional vacuum is one of the more affordable bagless vacuums on my list.
What I like most is the easy-button controls:
- brush-roll ON/OFF
- increase/decrease suction (min/max dial)
- 1-button to detach canister
Like the Shark Rotator TruePet, you can detach the canister – easily transforms into a handheld vacuum: furniture, cleaning your car, vacuuming walls, ledges and shelves, etc.
Users find this model to be very quiet when running, which is great! If you have toddlers napping upstairs you can still vacuum without waking the whole house.
Moderate weight of 13.7 pounds, but still powerful for it’s size/weight.
Bissell is probably best known for their carpet shampooers — but they also make some great, affordable upright vacuums.
The Bissell Cleanview Upright Vacuum is specialized for picking up pet hair. It has triple-action brushroll technology allowing it to lift and pull-in hair in a single motion.
⭐⭐ Best Vacuum Cleaner for Pet Hair ⭐⭐
New Swivel Steering makes it easy to get around obstacles or awkward areas. And if there’s a smaller area the vacuum can’t get to — no prob! Easily disconnect the nozzle and it acts as a dry-vac.
Downside is the cord is a little shorter at only 27 ft. and little heavier at 19.75 pounds
One of the best, affordable vacuums — the Bissell Clean View is an excellent choice for mid-size homes.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum is specifically designed to tackle pet hair (and pet dander).
Very strong suction of 306 AW (air watts) it’s able to lift tangled hair right off the carpet — shouldn’t need to run it over multiple times.
This is a model that works great on multiple floor surfaces: vinyl, tile, hardwood and carpet
It also comes w/ a detachable wand to help you clean harder to reach areas. Simply press the button to detach it from its holster and use as a lightweight carry-vacuum.
Includes special HEPA filter system trap 99.9% of dust and allergens inside the dustbin. (Older vacuums often kick up dust which is sometime unnoticeable)
Downside – it’s pretty expensive.
Hoover Air Lift Bagless Vacuum is one of my personal favorites:
- Cordless = rechargeable battery
- Large dirt bin (1.05 liters)
- Detachable = best handheld vacuum
- Boost mode for extra power
- Very lightweight
In terms of battery power, it comes w/ 2 rechargeable batteries giving you 50 mins of cordless vacuuming power. Large dust cup means you can vacuum uninterrupted (without needing to empty the bin).
What I love the most about this Hoover is the detachable canister. You can easily disconnect and use as a handheld vacuum for your car, furniture, or stairs.
Super lightweight at 12.4 pounds, it weighs about 4-6 pounds detached.
Tons of positive buyer reviews confirm how very quiet it is – upright and handheld vacuum.
Charge time is 3-hours for full 50 min battery.
Shark Navigator vacuum is built with an upgraded bin sealer and HEPA filter — traps 99.9% of allergens inside once you’ve vacuumed them up.
An extendable wand lets you reach the upper corners of your rooms and clean things like blinds and drapes. You’ll also find the vacuum works well on hardwood floors and carpet.
Canister is removable transforming it into a handheld vacuum — easily clean stairs and other parts of the house that are narrow or hard to reach.
What I really love is how big the dust cup is — holds up to 1.2 dry quarts (which is a lot).
You won’t need to constantly empty the bin which is great for homes that require 2-3x week vacuuming.
Shark Navigator has medium weight of 13 pounds, but easy to assemble w/ excellent maneuvering capabilities.
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor vacuum comes with a 40 ft cord and uses a ball swivel — allowing you can reach tight spaces throughout your home. It’s also designed for both carpet and hardwood floors.
What makes the Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum unique is its fantastic durability. It’s been tested to last 10 years totalling 12,800 hours of usage.
HEPA filter helps trap 99% of dirt and allergens inside the bin once they’ve been scooped. And 1-button bin release makes it very easy to empty when you’re finished.
Comes with the new instant-release wand — clean under furniture or up-high.
Downside is that it’s one of the heavier upright vacuums at 17.3 pounds.
When it’s time to replace your vacuum cleaner you’ll want a new machine that can remove dirt quickly and efficiently and keep that dirt locked away inside.
You should also consider things like which models will work on your flooring surfaces and what attachments are included, since attachments can be used to reach high areas and remove specific types of dirt, like pet hair.
